Del Loy is a self-taught artist based in Brookhaven, known for his oil paintings that capture a range of subjects—from the rural landscapes of Mississippi and Texas to more recent scenes inspired by his own neighborhood.

Art has been a lifelong passion for Del. As a child, he sketched on whatever he could find, often using the backs of brown paper grocery bags. Though he served as president of his high school Art Club, he never received formal training in painting. He began working with oils in college, but after getting married, his focus shifted to raising a family and building a career. It wasn’t until five years ago, after retiring from the family supermarket business in Natchez, that he returned to painting. A year later, he and his wife Renae relocated to Brookhaven to be closer to their son and his family. Today, Del continues to create from his home studio.

Mr. Loy's work will be on display for the month of May in the Vernon Room (first floor) at the Lincoln County Library.
