Envisionware Policy

PCReservation and LPT:One

by EnvisionWare

COMING IN JUNE!

We've purchased new software to manage the public computers and printing. Scheduled to be installed in all five libraries, it will be implemented mid-June. Anyone wishing to use a public computer will need to use their library card to reserve or log in to a public computer. Residents are required to have their library card in hand since the barcode will be required. If you don't have a library card yet, today is a good day to apply for one! Visitors from out of the area may obtain a guest pass good for one day upon showing a photo ID.

Time limits will apply. Computer users will be limited to 180 minutes per day in 60 minute increments. If no one is waiting for a computer, time may be extended. Anyone who vacates a computer for more than 5 minutes will forfeit their place at the computer if someone else is waiting. Limit one person per computer due to space limitations unless granted permission by staff.

LPT:One software will manage printing. Once a patron selects a page to be printed, it will reside in a print queue until paid for and retrieved by staff for printing. Laptop users will be able to access the library's printer using LPT:One.

EnvisionWare's PCReservation and LPT:One software has been partially funded by a Library Services and Technology Grant administered by the Mississippi Library Commission. Lincoln Lawrence Franklin Regional Library complies with CIPA (Children's Internet Protection Act).

John Williams Negative Scan Project

John H. Williams, a photographer and proprietor of the Art Studio in Brookhaven, Mississippi, spent many years taking pictures of buildings, people, and activities in this community. The majority of photographs and negatives in the collection are from 1946-1970. Included are pictures of local community buildings, schools and school groups, churches and church groups, and weddings. Also included are some early oilfield, logging, and Stahl-Urban pictures. An extensive number of items are portraits of local individuals and family groups. These photographs are an outstanding memory of the citizens of Southwest Mississippi--depicting faces and special moments in their lives

Funded by a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant, new computers and software have been  purchased in order to scan and digitize some of the thousands of photographic negatives in the John Williams Collection, owned by Lincoln-Lawrence-Franklin Regional Library. To date, 2,025+ negatives have been scanned and stored in digital format. A separate grant allowed 200 photographs to be digitized for the library. The library staff is working to upload the images to Flickr for public access. If you would like to conduct research in the collection, please contact us at libraryinfo@llf.lib.ms.us to schedule access.
