LLF is a member of the Longleaf Consortium. This consortium agreement allows citizens who live in one of the following counties to sign up for a LLF card the same as other area residents: Lincoln, Lawrence, Franklin, Copiah, Jefferson, Jefferson-Davis, Marion.
Patrons who do not live in the counties serviced by the Longleaf Consortium are set up in the Library's computer system with one of two Patron Codes:
- Adult, non-resident
- Juvenile, non-resident
Patrons who are registered with these codes may experience a lower checkout material limit than other patrons.
Non-resident patrons are charged a $15.00 deposit that is returned to them when they surrender their card, assuming that their card is in good standing.
Reciprocal Agreements are agreements with other Mississippi libraries where LLF waives the $15.00 deposit requirement. Patrons who are able to meet the following conditions are not required to provide the $15.00 deposit.
- Non-resident patrons who can present a library card from any other Mississippi library are eligible to have their security deposit waived.
- Non-resident patrons are required to provide the same identification or proof of residency as resident patrons are required to present.
- If the non-resident patron is able to later present a library card from another Mississippi library, their deposit can be refunded at that time.
